First, there is no way that product was properly tested before in was expedited: the battery carrier was fixed too low on the main beam making it very difficult to put and remove the battery due to the rear support getting in the way (rear support screws holes got damaged in the process(. The rear wheel was warped, the front and rear brakes disk were warped too and needed a lot of adjustment (still not perfect).
Bottom line: claims of "product testing" before shipping by the manufacturer are just BS.
This is typically a product that should be bought thru a bicycle shop: a lot of small things needed fixing that would be done in no time in a bike shop but are just a pain at home if you are not an expert.
If you have time (or money) to get it in proper order, this is a great product (I really enjoy it) but it was NOT in a usable state as delivered (and I still have a few things to repair/tune). I bought it because I got a very good price on it ($1000 in Aug 2012) compare to other places online.
Now once it runs...
Pros:
You can go REALLY fast on uneven pavement and climb really steep hills without sweating too much (no shower at work...).
Range is good for me (I have a 12 miles/day commute and it seems to be half charged at the end).
Braking is great (if brakes are properly adjusted): you can go downhill at max speed and succeed in trying to stop :-)
Cons:
It's pretty heavy (if you need to load it in a train or bus) and the 'folding' is not really usable (unstable once folded).
Chain keeps getting derailed (probably need adjustment too...).
